Safety Meeting is a psychedelic fusion band rooted in the vibrant music scene of Durango, Colorado. Blending elements of jazz, jam, funk, and R&B with the rich vocal harmonies of folk, the group crafts a sound that is both expansive and deeply musical. The core lineup includes Chuck Hank (High Country Hustle) on bass, whose broad stylistic range anchors the band’s grooves; Alec Mayes (Desert Child) on drums, known for his rhythmic nuance and precision; and Eli Emmitt (Eli Emmitt Band) on guitar, whose visceral playing adds an expressive edge to the ensemble. All three members contribute vocally, creating the band’s signature layered harmonies.
Safety Meeting frequently features additional collaborators, including Clarke Reid (Desert Child) on keys, whose jazz-informed sensibility deepens the band’s harmonic texture; Max Henry (Apres Nova) on flute and guitar, bringing a lyrical, melodic voice; and Oliver Henry (Apres Nova) on keyboards, adding ambient layers and expansive tones.
